..I am..
Introverted
nothing absurd, or obscure,
silent and distant sure,
but never a trace in the blur..
Thriving in depths of the mind
...unconfined...
Energized by the comfort
that only silence finds..
Not "shy" or antisocial,
lonesome or woeful..
In tune with my emotions,
I don't lack sociality,
nor live in depravity..
Devotion that never deviates,
an unquestioning Zen state,
that alone I satiate..
Recharging in my quiet place,
to gain strength for the next
...Face to Face...
Truly, there are not words
for just how much that takes..
Some call me strange,
still I pick my battles,
the way some pick their stage..
Life is a journey, not a game
and at the end of the day
we all get there in our own way
...So please...
Don't mistake my absent nature,
for pain, or disdain
...I'm not insane...

Ode to the artist
Colours dance
Just out of reach
Of her grasping fingers,
Her lips tipped up
And her violet eyes
Glistening with wonder.
And today,
So many years later,
When her eyes have settled
And their colour dimmed,
When the curls in new hair
Have fallen flat,
Even now
Those colours dance
Just out of her reach.
She slashes at canvas
With wide brushes
And dripping paints,
Trying to capture
Those perfect blends,
Those perfect tones,
That perfect feeling.
Her works are masterpieces,
Acclaimed by all who see,
But not a single one
Is complete,
Merely abandoned
By the mother who cannot cherish
Imperfection.
And so she starts again
With new brushes
And brigh

Wishes
Maybe we should stop wishing on shooting stars,
birthday candles,
and dandelions
to bring our muttered words to life
For eighteen years later,
we still close our eyes;
whispering words of yearning at a golden object,
demolishing a crimson flame,
and emitting white specks into the lucent air
But maybe we shouldn't
For these wishes we make for countless years
Serve as reminders:
That no one in life has everything,
But at least we have something
Even if it's just an intangible sentence
muttered under our ardent breath

Have you seen my words?
I've searched everywhere.
I know this sounds absurd,
They're neither here nor there.
Have you seen my words?
Without them I am lost.
Please return them hastily,
I care not for the cost.
Have you heard my voice?
I fear I lost it too.
I've been so clumsy lately.
Oh, what am I to do?
Have you heard my voice?
I know not where it went.
I try to make a sound,
But silence supplements.
Have you seen my inner self?
I think she left me too.
Darkness has me surrounded
And I know not what to do.
She's not here to guide me,
She took my voice and words.
I'm alone with my demons
And I cannot be heard.

I have received several comments regarding the 'drawing names out of a hat' process of deciding winners for this contest. Originally, I had decided to stick to the original idea of not judging the pieces, that it is what you are saying that is more important not how you say it. Regardless of what ends up happening, that will always be the case for this contest.
However, I created this group to be a community of writers. This group is about you guys, the members. And so I cannot ignore your comments about disliking the 'drawing names out of a hat' process. Instead, I have decided to leave it up to you guys

I can really relate to it, and that is surprising - I rarely find poetry nowadays that I feel "fits" my personality the way your piece does.
